Abstract

As a whole, the book offers analyses that range from the global or global factors that determine the processes of deindustrialization and productive restructuring in Mexico, marked by the parallel process of liberalization of the economy and deregulation of production processes, or by regulation aimed at creating conditions of "certainty" for foreign investment, until the study of the transformations that this process has in the insertion and work trajectories of the members of the community and the way in which the forms of organization and the frameworks of perception of the reality in the communities are restructured to make emerge, or at least enable new subjectivities more docile to the processes of exploitation. In this sense, the book transitions between two looks and three dimensions. As for the views, the book also includes academic analyses -most of them based on case studies and fieldwork-, the testimonies of the workers who contribute to deepen the understanding of the concrete reality and the effects of the processes of deinterpretation and productive restructuring. In terms of dimensions, these determine the division between the main parts of the chapters: the first dimension provides a macro perspective that addresses socio-economic change, the transformation of the role of the state and its intervention in productive processes, and the internal logic of productive restructuring; the second dimension focuses on an intermediate analysis of the recomposition and disputes around the construction of the workers' organisation -especially the union- and the transformation of its legitimisation processes and its frameworks for action. Finally, the third dimension addresses a micro-component that studies the effects that economic and productive restructuring has had on the lives of workers and their direct dependents, as well as on the relations between productive processes and community relations.
