This article reviews Marx concept of Political economy of labor, who used it to describe a series of experiences
of workers organization that were not fully incorporated into the capitalist logic of production. At the same time, Marx critically analyzed its conditions and limitations. The recovery of this category will help me to think about the selfmanaged experiences that are typical of the solidarity-based economy - not directly linked to the capitalist organization of work, even if only partially. In a second moment, I relate the Marxian concept with that of moral economy formulated by E.P. Thompson to describe the reaction of the popular sectors agglutinated as crowd and opposed to the nascent political economy of industrial capitalism and its instrumental rationality. From this exercise I concluded some reflections on the usefulness of these concepts to think about alternatives and strategic horizons to the current civilizational crisis and its exacerbation after the passage of the SARS-COV2 virus.
