Utopian Preambles at Guamán Poma's Work

Abstract

As is already known, although the work of Felipe Guamán Poma is more than four hundred years old, it was only discovered a little over a century ago. Since then, multiple studies of very different scope concerning this work have been undertaken. In the following lines, an interpretive approach to the work of Guamán Poma is proposed in the key of utopia and having as support the epistemology of the South. For such work, the phenomenon of modernity and its critical potential is analyzed; the very notion of utopia and its tension; and the role of aesthetics in connection with utopia.
